Gary Peare will be joining us again at the West Coast Ukulele Retreat in Cambria, November 1 – 5, as both instructor and M.C. extraordinaire. And he’ll be bringing along a whole new bag of tricks to share with us.
In addition to an updated reprise of his popular “double song” workshop, featuring tunes that create instant duets, for this year’s retreat Gary is planning to introduce the world of ensemble playing to those looking to dip their toes into something new and and really fun. He’ll also be offering a workshop exploring fingerstyle playing with an early ukulele classic, “Spanish Fandango.”

I used to see Gary Peare at the Wine Country ‘Ukulele Festival (back in the day) and always thought, “What a nice guy!” It wasn’t until I got to work with Gary that I realized what a ridiculous understatement that was.
Gary Peare is a terrific person and an amazing ‘ukulele instructor. He is extremely attentive to his students’ desires and needs and he always brings something new to the party. When I find an instructor like this I like to keep ’em around. And Gary is definitely a keeper.
If you are looking to expand your understanding of chord voicings and rhythmic styles while learning new techniques and tricks that will take your playing to the next level, Gary Peare is your guy.
Gary’s many talents and contributions to the world of ukuleles were also recognized by Ukulele Magazine in a cover story last spring. You can also learn more about him here.
Gary joins Del Rey and a great cast of ukulele characters you’ll be hearing more about soon.
