Uke, Bike, n’ Barge Germany 2020

Germany!  With so many exciting rivers and routes to choose from, it was difficult settling on one.  But one we did: a fabulous (and easy) ride through the wine country of the Moselle and Saar River Valleys, from Koblenz to Merzig, September 12 – 19, 2020.

Our home away from home on this wonderful ukulele adventure will be the recently refitted barge, Allure, with 10 comfy guest cabins–each with a private shower, toilet, basin, central heating, small safe, hairdryer, and windows that open.

But you’ll probably only be in your cabin to sleep and change, as the rest of the on board “action” (i.e. ukulele lessons, workshops, and sing-alongs) will either be in the lounge, outside on the large deck, or both! There is also free Wi-Fi onboard.  And when we are not “onboard,” we will be peddling our way through the lovely German countryside.

And the trip?  Wow! The Rhine’s peaceful little sisters, the Moselle and Saar Rivers, meander from one picturesque village to the other, offering unsurpassed views of fairy tale castles high on the surrounding hills, timbered houses dating back to medieval times, stone-clad fortresses, vineyards perched on impossibly steep slopes (which we don’t have to ride on!), picture-perfect wineries, and more. We’ll pay a visit to the Porta Nigra in Trier, built in Roman times, the oldest defensive structure in Germany, and the “German Corner” at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers in Koblenz and Saarburg, widely referred to as “Little Venice.”  There is so much to see and experience and there is no better way to take it all in than under your own power on a bicycle. Not only will you soak up the sights of untouched nature, you will meet local residents, winegrowers, and bottlers and get an opportunity to relive the rich history of the region.

The total cost (which includes, 7 nights lodging, most of your delicious meals, ukulele instructions and bike rental, is looking to be just under $2,000.

There is still space available on this trip, but you should know that our ukulele, barge, and bike trips are extremely popular and tend to fill quickly. So, if you are seriously interested and ready to place a deposit to reserve a space, please contact us as soon as possible.
