Act Now! There is Still Room at the Tablao!

Heidi, Daniel & Craig have all been hard at work coming up with a comprehensive (and unique) lesson plan to ensure that all attendees at the New Uke-Culinary Fiesta, in Santa Fe, November 7 – 11, 2018, not only have all their ukulele needs met, but have a grand old time, to boot!

Take a peek at the schedule and you will see that there will be specific “tracks” each day for beginning, intermediate, and advanced players.  These include an introduction to finger picking, songs to increase your rhythm vocabulary, and how to play like a “killer!” (That would be Daniel Ward.)  And there will be plenty of time for sing- and play-a-longs. . . . .not to mention rehearsing for our busk Under the Water Tower at the weekly Farmers Market at the Santa Fe Rail Yard.

But what will really set this event apart is our daily, afternoon gathering at our very own tablao, a uniquely Spanish version of a “play-along.” Over the course of the retreat, our illustrious staff will put everyone  to work at the tablao learning strums, Latin rhythms, and palmas, traditional song forms that include tangos and Sevillanas.  Can you think of a better way to improve your ‘ukulele skills than to immerse yourself in the history and beauty of a new musical tradition with a true master of the craft?  Probably not.

But wait!  It gets even better. On our last afternoon in Santa Fe, we will be joined by a special guest, Flamenco singer Annika, who will join us for an unforgettable evening of singing, playing, dancing, and feasting the Flamenco way, right at our home away from home!

And don’t forget the feasting part!  You can bet Heidi and her crew will be busy in kitchen all afternoon working their magic with the goodies picked up at the Framer’s Market getting ready for our final tablao. But, throughout our stay, Heidi and Daniel  will both be teaching the cooking students how to prepare some sumptuous Southwest meals…..and the rest of us get to eat them!  (And we can accommodate most, if not all, dietary restrictions!)

There are just a couple of rooms left at El Paradero, our home base, and we need to fill them before September 5, when the unsold rooms will be open to the general (non-uke-playing!!!!!) public. (Yikes! We can’t let that happen!)

And just look at one of the rooms that is still available.  Wouldn’t you like to call that “home” during your stay in Santa Fe and rest your weary head there after a fun-filled day of ukulele-playing, cooking, and feasting?

Online registration is open!  And we’d love to have you join us!  But please, register before September 5 while you can still get the 15% discount on your room at El Paradero.
